TAOTOPIA

TAOTOPIA is an interactive VR world that imagines a parallel universe where humans coexist in harmony with aquatic animals. Instead of exploiting nature, technologies are developed to enable cross-species communication and the building of a shared civilization. The project challenges anthropocentrism by drawing on deep ecology, which recognizes the inherent value of all living beings, as well as ancient Chinese Taoist philosophy and aesthetics. Through immersive experience, players are invited to question human-centered worldviews, reflect on their internalized assumptions, and consider the possibility of transforming their relationship with other forms of life.
